Grant Evaluation Coordinator, The Tire Industry Project (WBCSD)

Location: hybrid 

Duration of the contract: 3 months (January to April) to review 0-10 applications, max 80 pages per application. 

Context  

Formed in 2005, the Tire Industry Project (TIP) is a voluntary, CEO-driven initiative with a mission to anticipate, understand, and address global environmental, social, and governance (ESG) issues relevant to the tire industry and its value chain.  

TIP is now launching an Open Call for Projects (OCP) as an opportunity to engage scientists and innovators working on research that is aligned with TIP’s key objectives and can contribute to advancing sustainability practices and environmental stewardship within the tire industry. This initiative will select and provide financial support to projects showing the highest degree of innovation and feasibility with regard to the assessment and measurement of tire wear emissions, i.e. the material produced during the use phase of a tire. 

Position Summary  

The Grant Evaluation Coordinator oversees the process, conducts pre-screening and consolidates the Scores, evaluating the full submission form. 

The Grant Evaluation Coordinator will be part of an evaluation committee that will be tasked with the detailed review of received submissions and with the provision of technical assessments that will inform the shortlisting of proposals. 

Requirements 

Interested candidates shall demonstrate the following qualifications and skills: 

Educational Background and Experience: 

  • A Master degree in a relevant field such as administration, management, or another related area. 
  • Experience in grant coordination, evaluation processes, or similar roles involving document review and compliance. 
  • Familiarity with working in multidisciplinary teams. 
  • General understanding of evaluation criteria and workflows. 

Skills: 

  • Ability to review, organize, and evaluate complex documents and data. 
  • Strong attention to detail to ensure compliance and identify gaps. 
  • Effective communication skills for providing feedback and coordinating with evaluators. 
  • Ability to work collaboratively with stakeholders from diverse fields. 
  • Familiarity with grant evaluation procedures and general compliance standards. 
  • Basic awareness of assessing feasibility, impact, and innovation in project proposals. 
  • Strong proficiency in using project management tools and equipment as well as in the use of, Microsoft Office software.   
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to maintain organized records. 
  • Fluency in English (written and spoken) is essential.  
  • Team player with the ability to work collaboratively  
  • Excellent analytical, critical thinking, and organizational skills. 
  • Strong interpersonal skills and service-oriented personality. 

Responsibilities 

The Grant Evaluation Coordinator oversees the comprehensive evaluation process of grant submissions, ensuring efficiency, compliance, and alignment with award criteria. The primary responsibilities include: 

  1. Pre-Screening of Applications: 
  • Verifies the submission of the full submission form (maximum 80 pages per proposal), composed of: 
  • Detailed project description 
  • Work plan and timeline 
  • Budget table 
  • Agreements and endorsements 
  • High-level CVs 
  • Identifies and rejects non-compliant, incomplete, or ineligible applications, providing feedback to applicants. Eligible proposals advance to the next stage. 
  1. Document Allocation: 
  • Assigns proposals to fellow evaluators based on expertise and award criteria to ensure a balanced and fair review. 
  1. Consolidation of Scores: 
  • Compiles and weights scores according to predefined evaluation criteria, based on the input from the other members of the Evaluation Committee. 

The Coordinator ensures that the entire process is well-documented and adheres to established guidelines, fostering transparent and equitable evaluation practices.
