Sustainability Driven – Accelerating Impact with the Tire Sector SDG Roadmap
This Roadmap offers a framework for action that outlines impactful pathways for the entire sector to contribute to the ambitions of the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The Roadmap aims to guide, inform and support decision-making along the value chain, encourage stakeholder dialogue and inspire action-oriented initiatives among industry peers and beyond.
In acknowledgment of the importance of the opportunities and challenges presented by the SDGs to multiple stakeholder groups, the Roadmap was produced by the Tire Industry Project in consultation with a range of global stakeholders from industry associations, non-profits, and subject matter experts.
The tire sector interacts with all 17 SDGs, but the Roadmap puts the focus on where the sector has the greatest potential to lead, accelerate, or influence action toward the 2030 Agenda. The Roadmap identifies seven opportunities to maximize positive impact and minimize negative impact across three main themes: supply chain, operations, and products and services.
Impact pathways were developed for each opportunity and include a series of actions toward the eight goals that it identifies as priorities. Two goals – SDG 8 (decent work and economic growth) and SDG 12 (responsible consumption and production) – are mapped against the Roadmap actions most frequently.
