What is the tire sector Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) Roadmap?
On 1 January 2016, the 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development officially came into force. The Goals call for action by all countries, poor, rich and middle-income to promote prosperity while protecting people and planet.
The purpose of an SDG Sector Roadmap is to articulate and enable a common SDG vision at the tire-sector level.
The roadmap provides a strategic plan for how an entity can positively impact advancement in achieving SDGs (e.g. human rights), and also how to move faster. It translates a vision into actionable goals and activities. The SDG Sector Roadmap enables leading companies to collaborate and articulate a common approach for how their industry can maximize its potential to contribute to achieving the critical SDG agenda through business solutions.
Individual companies can leverage the Roadmap to focus their own strategic approach to the SDGs and make informed decisions as to where they can have the greatest impact on the SDG goals and targets that are a priority for their sector.
